Peter Wore His Red Shoes is an amazing story about a young boy's first day of school in a new country.
The author's vision
Peter came to me looking for an illustrator for his picture book about his personal story of coming to American and starting the first day of school. He provided a picture of himself as a young boy and a photo of his childhood grade school. He explained that soccer was a big part of his story and of course featuring the very important RED shoes that helped him navigate his first day of school.
Working together
Peter and I worked together to develop each character and each scene needed in the story. The first step was character sketches, then rough pencil sketches, next refined and corrected pencil illustrations, then the line work and finally the colored illustrations
